Gone Fishin' Valance
Wouldn’t your favorite fisher-person love to have this Gone Fishin’ Valance? This sporty filet crochet valance features a life-size rainbow trout rising out of the water to catch a perfectly-placed fly. The valance is worked in back-and-forth rows from the left side to the right side with a repeat in the pattern to allow for customization to your window size. The rod pocket is built into the design with a checkerboard border across the top.
This valance is shown on a 36″ wide window (typically, a valance should measure about 1-1/2 times the window width to allow for some gathering).
This pattern includes both row-by-row written instructions as well as a design chart for reference.
The filet crochet technique is akin to crocheting a piece of graph paper with some of the square grids filled in and some left open (or blank) to create an overall design. If you’d like to learn filet crochet, check out my YouTube tutorial: Filet Crochet: Learning the Stitches & a Few Extras!
